The Suns defeat the Sacramento Kings 122-114

40 wins, 40 WINS!!!
The last time the Suns saw 40 on the winning side of their record was the 2013-14 season where we won 48 games and missed the playoffs by only 1 game.
This victory was the 4th in a row for the Suns and 10th straight win at home. Deandre Ayton led the way in this one shooting 10 of 11 from the field for 26 points. He took complete advantage of the mis-matches presented to him when Sacramento switched on defense, throwing down alley-oop dunks and grabbing offensive boards. He had 4 of those in the game for a total of 11 rebounds.
As with most of the Suns' wins this season, it was an all around team effort with every Sun that played, having at least 5 points. Also like many games this season we let the opposing team gain momentum in the second half before ultimately pulling through to win. The game as a whole was close, with our biggest lead being only 12 part way through the 2nd quarter, thanks to some hot shooting from Jevon Carter, and the Suns going in to halftime up by only 2 points.
The Kings were able to take a 2 point lead with about 10 minutes left to play. A dunk from Cam Johnson levelled the score at 99 and then the Suns ran away, going on a 13-5 run over the next 5 minutes. That was enough to put the Kings to bed. Ayton was returned to the floor near the end of that run with only 5 minutes remaining and was brilliant down the stretch. He was the focal point of the offense, going 3 of 3 from the field and 4 of 4 from the free throw line for 10 points.
Game flow from Viziball
Like in our previous couple of games, the bench was key in this game, The standout performer was Jevon Carter with 13 points on 5 of 6 FGs and 3 of 4 from 3. 11 of these points came in just a 6 minute stretch to start the 2nd quarter. This is Jevon's 3rd strong game in a row after telling the press that his teammates and coaches have been getting on him to shoot more - peer pressure clearly works.
All in, the bench accounted for 42 points, 8 from Saric and Payne, 7 from Craig and 6 from Johnson.
Our All-Star backcourt of Devin Booker and Chris Paul both had solid games. Book had 23 points and CP3 showed off his Point God skills with 11 assist and 0 turnovers. In fact, over the last 4 games he's had 40 assists and only 1 turnover!
Our next game and final one at home before an East road trip is Saturday night against the San Antonio Spurs.
