Suns lose 119 - 123

The Phoenix Suns allowed the worst team in the league (record wise) to have two 40 point scorers. Karl-Anthony Towns had 41 & rookie Anthony Edwards had 42 points - both season highs (therefore a career high for Edwards).

This wasn't a good game for the Suns. There was an overall sloppy outing from them, as they had a season high 22 turnovers. We'd previously had 21 against Detroit twice, one of those being the overtime loss back in January.

The turnovers set the tone for the game, as Phoenix had 10 in the 1st quarter alone. Minnesota were able to capitalise off of the turnovers, generating 23 points off the back of them. Many of these turnovers were unforced as well and at points just looked like passes to the T'Wolves players.

A glance at the counting stats would make you think that the Suns had won this game, but as you can see from the below, Minnesota killed the Suns with 60 points in the paint, as well as the aforementioned turnovers.

Phoenix seemed to have the game in the bag, as they extended their 5 point half time to 15, but Minnesota had other plans. They kept going to KAT and Edwards who were both simply great. They both continually attacked the paint, getting to the hoop with ease. Towns also added 5 3's on 7 shots from the outside. The Suns had no answer for them.

Booker finished this one with 35 points. He was sharp throughout, having his usual double digit 1st and 3rd quarters, but was only able to manage 1 point in the 4th, attempting only 2 shots in the period.

Mikal Bridges also had himself an impressive game with 17 points, 4 of 7 from 3 and a career high 8 assists, including a sweet alley-oop pass to Booker.

Chris Paul also hit another milestone in his historic career, passing Jamal Crawford for 54th on the NBA all-time scoring list - I'm sure he would have preferred the W though.

For me this game was another example of us needing some more depth at the PF/C position. We saw on Saturday against Indiana how a talented big man can take advantage of us and we saw it again here tonight. Alarm bells are ringing for me in this area, as there's a certain NBA champion that wears gold, that happens to have the best frontcourt duo in the League. It's likely we will be facing them at some point in this year's Playoffs. I do believe however that our acquisition of Torrey Craig this week, was the 1st of a couple of moves we'll see before the trade deadline and I hope we will address the issue I've pointed out here.
