Week 4: 8 - 14 November 2021

Week Record: 4-0

Overall Record: 9-3. 2nd in Western Conference.

Games Played and Results:

W - 109 - 104 @ Sacramento Kings

W - 119 - 109 Vs Portland Trailblazers

W - 119 - 94 @ Memphis Grizzlies

W - 115 - 89 @ Houston Rockets

The win streak continues!

Going 4-0 this week has taken our win streak to 8 games and vaulted the team from 4th to 2nd in the West, trailing only the equally hot Golden State Warriors (though their win streak did end last night).

Against the Kings and Blazers, the games started fairly even, but ended up being completely controlled by the Suns, especially in the 2nd halves. The Kings result looks closer than the game actually was.

The game I thought would be the toughest for us; the Grizzlies, ended up being an easy game. The Suns never trailed in the game and led by 38 points in the 3rd quarter, after a Cam Johnson 3.

Against the Rockets we put on a defensive clinic. We held them to a season low (for us) of 89 points and racked up 16 steals as a team. CP3 had 7 on his own, which equalled Houston's total as a team. McGee had his 1st double-double in a Suns uniform with 19 points and 14 rebounds and Booker supplied the scoring punch with 26.

Superstar Watch (Season stats):

Booker - 22.4 Points, 6.1 Rebounds, 5.5 Assists, 1.1 Steals, 43.1 FG%, 35.5 3PT FG%, 2.9 Turnovers

Chris Paul - 14.2 Points, 4.3 Rebounds, 10.4 Assists, 2.8 Steals 49.6 FG%, 37.5 3PT FG%, 2.3 Turnovers

Scorching Suns:

Mikal Bridges

What can't our guy Mikal do? On top of defending the opposing team's best player every night, he's also turning in to one of the most consistent wings in the league. Simply look at these numbers from last week's games:

13.3 Points, 3.0 Rebounds, 1.8 Assists, 1.0 Steal, 53.8 FG% & 53.8 3PT FG% (that's not a typo the % is the same for both).

Chris Paul

CP3's shooting got off to a shaky start, but he found his rhythm last week, shooting 52.9% over the 4 games played. He's also been a defensive menace, racking up 3.8 steals per game (helped by the 7 vs Houston) and leads the league with 2.8 per game on the season. He's also leading the league in assists at 10.4, despite a down week of averaging "only" 7. Scoring wise, for the week he's put up 16.8 points per game, with pretty much all of them being the patented mid-range jumper.

Struggling Suns:

Devin Booker

What has happened to our main man's shot this past week? He's managed to hit only 40% of his shots and averaged 18.3 points per game.

The positive is that even with him struggling at points, he's still been hitting some key, big shots and of course we've continued to win. Imagine the media backlash if we had been losing?

I'm never worried about Book though, as this seems to happen to him at least once a season and he always bounces back.

Stat Line of the Week:

Frank Vs Blazers

Frank's career night had to be the choice here. Though he played a bigger role while in Charlotte, throughout his career he'd never topped the 30-point mark, until this Blazers game.

Game stat line:

31 Points, 7 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 1 Block, 12/18 FGs (66.7%), 2/5 3PT FGs (40%)

Honourable mentions:

Cam Payne Vs Sacramento Kings

Game stat line:

24 Points, 4 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 1 Steal, 9/14 FGs (64.3%), 4/6 3PT FGs (66.7%).

Upcoming Games:

We have 4 games this week.

ree

We start the week in Minnesota to finish off our current 3 game road trip, with the final 3 games all being played at home in Phoenix.

Today's game against the Timberwolves is the 2nd game of a back-to-back. We haven't had many of those so far this season, but even with that in mind and with Ayton potentially still being out, I still think we have enough to come away with the win and extend our win streak.

Then we have 2 games in a row against the Mavericks. I can see us splitting these 2 games, but couldn't decide which we'd win or lose. Upon a coin flip, I'm going to say that we win the 1st game, but lose the 2nd.

Then we finish the week against the Nuggets. Another game I can see going either way, but with the prospect of Ayton still being out I'm going to say we take a loss here.

So to recap, I have us winning against the Timberwolves and our 1st Mavs game, then losing the last 2 games of the week.

More God-Like stats from CP3

This is season I've had a CP3 section here every week, but the man continues to have historic moments, even at this point in his career.

Old-Man Game!

At 36 years old, Paul continues to defy father time. He's currently leading the league in assists (10.4) and steals (2.8), something he has done in the same season since the 13-14 season, while throwing lobs to Blake Griffin in LA.

Sarver Situation

Yep, this circus act continues to odder with every piece of related news that gets released.

This week, Penny Sarver (Robert's Wife) sent threatening messages via social media to some of the ex-employees that told their stories to ESPN.

What an absolute shit-show. She probably thought she was rightfully defending her husband, but for me it just makes him look even more guilty. The whole ordeal had already been compared to the Sterling-Clippers situation, but now it's also taking on characteristics of the Colangelo situation in Philadelphia.

Hopefully, next week I won't have to write about this horrible family.
