Week 22: 13-19 March 2023

Week Record: 1-3

Overall Record: 38-33. 4th in the Western Conference.

Games Played and Results:

L - 105 - 91 Vs Golden State Warriors

L - 119 - 128 Vs Milwaukee Bucks

W - 105 - 91 Vs Orlando Magic

L - 105 - 91 Vs OKC Thunder

Centre of The Sun

Booker has shined all week again, but his big scoring didn't equal W's all week, as we only managed to beat the Magic.

With Kevin Durant out and not having a reliable option like Mikal Bridges or Cam Johnson on the roster, we are thin, especially with CP3 struggling with his shot and losing Ayton to a thigh injury, although he did tell local media groin, which is worrying.

Shams said earlier today (Monday) that the Suns hope to have KD back before the end of March. That sounds great, but we shouldn't believe anything until we hear it directly from the team.

Superstar Watch (Season stats):

Devin Booker - 28.0 Points, 4.5 Rebounds, 5.5 Assists, 0.9 Steal, 49.6 FG%, 36.8 3PT FG% & 2.5 Turnovers

Kevin Durant - 29.5 Points, 6.8 Rebounds, 5.2 Assists, 0.8 Steal, 1.5 Blocks, 56.6 FG%, 38.6 3PT FG% & 3.4 Turnovers

Deandre Ayton - 18.3 Points, 10.1 Rebounds, 1.8 Assists, 0.6 Steals, 0.8 Blocks, 58.9 FG%, 29.2 3PT FG% & 1.8 Turnovers

Chris Paul - 13.5 Points, 4.3 Rebounds, 9.2 Assists, 1.6 Steals, 43.2 FG%, 36.2 3PT FG% & 2.0 Turnovers

Scorching Suns:

Devin Booker

Really, who else could it be? Book pretty much was our whole offense this week.

His stats for the week:

31.8 Points, 4.0 Rebounds, 1.8 Assists, 1.3 Steals, 54.3.7 FG% & 35.3 3PT FG%.

Jock Landale

Jock has been having some excellent performances off the bench this week. He comes into the game and plays hard all the time. You love to see it.

His stats for the week:

6.8 Points, 2.8 Rebounds, 1.3 Assists, 66.7 FG% & 50.0 3PT FG%.

Struggling Suns:

Chris Paul

He did ok in spurts, having a couple of double-digit assist games, but we need him to score and he hasn't done that for us this week.

His stats for the week:

13.0 Points, 4.3 Rebounds, 9.8 Assists, 2.0 Steals, 44.0 FG% & 16.7 3PT FG%.

Stat Line(s) of the Week:

Devin Booker vs OKC Thunder

Game stat line:

46 Points, 3 Rebounds, 1 Assists, 1 Steal, 18/28 FGs (64.3%) & 3/7 3PT FGs (42.9%).

Honourable mentions:

Cameron Payne vs Orlando Magic

Game stat line:

18 Points, 2 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 1 Steal, 7/12 FGs (58.3%) & 3/5 3PT FGs (60.0%).

Josh Okogie vs Orlando Magic

Upcoming Games:

We have 3 games this week. The King's game ends a 3-game road trip.

This week could be another with a losing record.

Lakers looks to be the most likely W with LeBron out, but it could be a loss if Ayton is still out and Davis decides to have his way with us.

For me that's the story this week, can we deal with these teams and their bigs? In fact, while typing the NBA have announced Sabonis and Embiid as the Players of the Week.

Predictions:

I think our only W will be against the Lakers, so a 1-2 week for us.

Any Other Business:

Shamet Returns

After a long lay-off, Landry returned to the Suns line-up against the Thunder, and played pretty well. He had 10 points in 20 minutes, shooting 3 of 4 from downtown.
